CancerCare Online GIST Support Group

CancerCare has created a GIST Support Group. Please see following message received from the coordinator of the group:

My name is Victoria and I am the manager for the online support group program here at CancerCare.

I am reaching out to you to let you know that that CancerCare is launching an new online support group specifically for patients diagnosed with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). As with all of our online groups, this online group provides a safe, confidential space where participants can connect around the shared experience of living with this type of cancer while receiving support, information and guidance. This group takes place in a password-protected message board forum that is moderated by a licensed oncology social worker. It is completely free of charge and available 24/7 for registered participants.

Start Date: Monday, October 1, 2018
Moderator: Victoria Puzo, LCSW

Aims of the group:
- Reduce feelings of loneliness, anxiety and distress
- Help you learn new ways of coping
- Increase feelings of hope and empowerment
- Provide you with practical information about treatment and resources
- Help you communicate better with your medical team and loved ones

If any of your clients or members are interested, please feel free to give them my contact information or direct them to our website to register:

Thank you in advance and please let me know if I can provide any additional information.
